CANARY ISLANDS

 ENDEMIC BIRD SPECIES

The Canary Islands are located off the coast of NW Africa, and include several islands. Among them, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are the largest, but there are nine other smaller islands.

These volcanic islands enjoy a temperate weather all year round, with warm summers and fairly warm winters. Landscapes with steep cliffs above the ocean and high mountainous areas surrounded by beautiful beaches are typical views of these islands. The Teide, with up to 3,718 metres of elevation, is the highest peak of all these islands.

Numerous terrestrial species such as plants, insects, reptiles, mammals and birds occur on this volcanic soil.
Birds are our main goal here, and several species have been yet studied.
